The robots around us are designed by humans to look cute and like a friend. However, these machines are controlled and dominated by humans, like slaves. We chain robots like slaves or dogs or lock them up like birds in a cage. In this work we show the robots behind the design, reconfirming the relationship between humans and machines as artifacts.
In the installation, you will hear the screams of many slaves. The infrared ray camera allows the robots to sense and follow the audience about, showing their blind loyalty. However, ultrasonic speakers relay the robot slave’s motor sound and signal tone, which is like a scream, via the stethoscope. In the performance, slave robots move in sync with their master’s bones and muscles, screaming as they go.
The development of robot and artificial intelligence will lead to robots taking charge of the earth in the future. Machine waste installed around the robots symbolizes the robot remains on the Earth.
