“Dano” is a uniquely Bulgarian word, meaning “yes but no”. In practice, it crushes any sense of hope by sowing doubt and pessimism: Instead of meaning maybe, it means unlikely. Dano is one of the most used words in Bulgarian, and Orangereel director Martin Iliev is sick of it.
In this latest film for the “The Power Is In You” campaign, Martin tells us that hope is in actions, not words. Instead of saying “Dano something nice will happen”, make the nice thing happen. Make efforts, be informed, share, support each other, give, carry responsibilities, and demand answers from those responsible.
